Remember Bake for the Quake and the great amount of money we generated to help Japan? Well, it looks like I’ll be baking for charity again coming September! This time, I will be featuring my Dolce Delights goodies at the Big Screen Bake Sale which is being put on by a couple of my friends who love giving back to the community. This bake sale will occur on Sunday, September 4th, 2011 from 1:00–4:00pm at Creekside Community Recreation Centre (1 Athletes Way, Vancouver) and all proceeds from this fundraiser will go directly to Easter Seals, an organization which helps fund summer camps for children with disabilities. This is going to be super fun event! It is also movie-themed and of course, y’all know which movie I chose for my theme: Harry Potter, duh! Yes, ladies and gentlemen, I will be making pumpkin pasties, cauldron cupcakes, and Harry Potter’s FAVOURITE dessert ever: treacle tarts! Um, yeah. Harry Potter dreams come true. My table will be DECKED OUT in Harry Potter gear and I will also be donning my Gryffindor swag, of course.
This is a great opportunity to help a worthwhile cause. And if you haven’t tried my cupcakes yet, this is probably the place to do so! So please come out and support and buy some goodies — your help is greatly appreciated! Or feel free to come out and take pictures with me in my Gryffindor costume!
Also, check out the super sweet post on me and my cupcake biz, Dolce Delights. Thanks Mandy!
I just wanted to say a big THANK YOU to everyone who came out to Bake for the Quake this evening. The event was a huge success and collectively, we were able to raise well over $5000 for Japan relief. And it honestly couldn’t have been done without your help! Our table was sold out 2 hours into the event — thank you!!! We really hope you guys enjoy the goodies. Thank you for helping Japan!
Japan still needs your help and what’s a better way of helping out than through purchasing some delicately baked goods thiscoming 4/20 (weed-free, I swear)? Yes, if you haven’t heard already, I will be participating in a super major collective baking fundraiser, Bake for the Quake, this Wednesday, April 20th, at the Yaletown Roundhouse Community Arts & Recreation Centre (181 Roundhouse Mews). The event runs from 6:00-8:30pm and the entrance is free. Baked goodies will be appropriately priced and partial proceeds go towards Doctors Without Borders, which helps out those affected by the tsuanami and earthquakes Japan has had in the past few weeks. This is a perfect opportunity to get involved in helping Japan. It is also a great treat for anyone who is training to be in a major sweet tooth coma, in preparation of Easter later this weekend.
I will sharing a half table with my sister, Mel, my friends, Karra and Saschie and the lovely team behind My Local Cafe. Together, we will be baking vegan sweet potato cupcakes, Earl grey tea shortbread cookies, walnut banana bread, (almost) vegan chocolate cheesecake, white chocolate matcha brownies, nutella chocolate chip cookies, and the folks from My Local Cafe will be supplying a ton of fun completely gluten-free goodies!
In the meantime, check out this sweet blog post on the Bake for the Quake website to get a sneak peak of some of the baked deliciousness we’ll be supplying this Wednesday.
It’s time to GET BAKED this 4/20. And for a good cause. We hope to see you there!
