This….weekend….was shitfuckcray INSANE. Red Bull Thre3style World Finals Championships were on Saturday at the Commodore Ballroom and Jay-Z and Kanye West’s Watch the Throne concert was on Sunday at Rogers Arena. Hedspin reppin’ Canada took home the gold at the DJ competition. Good lookin’ crowd, good music, and great company. Sick afterparty at the Waldorf Hotel with all the international DJs. In heels for 12 hours, home at 6:30am. Fuck. Set the tone for the concert which was seriously off the chain. Definitely topped the last time I saw Jay-Z back in ’09. And what can I say? They played my favourite song 11 times. Three words: that shit cray.
After waiting a long, grueling seven months, I finally got to see Taylor Swift live in concert at Rogers Arena for her Speak Now World Tour 2011. I’m still speechless — all I’ve gotta say that it was hands down, the best concert that I have seen this year. The girl is talented. Extremely. She delivers and is able to conjure up the same quality of sound that is presented on her albums and sounds exactly like her tracks (and not in the lipsync kind of way). It was a simple stage but the props and decorations were pretty elaborate. My favourite scene was Enchanted. But I also loved how she opened up with my favourite song on the album, Sparks Fly. She did this killer medley of Back to December, Apologize by OneRepublic, and You’re Not Sorry (now posted on my Facebook) and this super cute ukelele version of Fearless. Oh my god. It was so good. Her music means so much to me because I actually listened to her quite a bit while I was going through a number of boy-related issues. It was perfect. And yes, I did cry. Amazing performance. Gym guy agrees as well. Yes, I went with him. But yes… This one was definitely in my top 3 best concerts of all time. Wish I could go back and see it all over again!
Taylor’s album Speak Now is all about those “What if?” moments and those times that if you don’t speak up, your moment is lost. The message that she is trying to convey is to be in the moment and don’t hold back because you might regret it later and dwell on those lost memories. And on that note, I did make the effort to speak up…to a certain someone….named Drew. YES. I asked him out today! And I’m still bouncing off the walls. Yay!
And if you’re curious as to what you missed out on, just watch her video, Spark’s Fly:
…because I will be. Jay Z & Kanye West. December 18th. Rogers Arena. CAN I GET A WHAT WHAT!?!?
On Sunday evening, my friend Anjela and I went to go to see New Kids on the Block and the Backstreet Boys at Rogers Arena. She won box seat tickets (thanks Anj!) and I thought, “Why not?”. I’ve had the pleasure of seeing The Spice Girls, Christina Aguilera, and Britney Spears live so seeing NKOTBSB would just fulfill my 90s dreams. And that it did. Who knew they have still got it after twenty years?! Plus, y’all know how much I love men. Especially old ones.
So the show surprisingly kicked off in time with a Canadian band called Neverest. I recognized one of their singles but honestly, didn’t really care for them.
Next up was Matthew Morrison aka Mr. Schuester from Glee. Yeah. I pretty much died. I’m a self-proclaimed Gleek and when he performed “Golddigger” and “Don’t Stand So Close To Me”, I couldn’t contain myself. Love. Amazing performance and not to mention, cute little intro cameo with Jane Lynch!
Now the boys… I didn’t know what to expect. Honestly, I just went there for BSB since, well, NKOTB was just before my time. But holy cow, Joey McIntyre and Jordan Knight?! Hello! And I gotta say that Donnie Wahlberg was a tad sexy too. And I can’t forget Brian Littrell and, of course, everyone’s favourite, Nick Carter. God, I love men.
Tell me you’re not jealous. And also tell me that men do not get better with age. Day-yum.
Again, I would QuikPiq this but…. too many goddamn choices. What costume should I construct for Britney Spears’ Femme Fatale concert this Friday at Rogers Arena? Keep in mind that I plan to go clubbing directly after at Fortune. Here are the choices:
I’m a Slave 4 U.
Baby One More Time.
Oops! I Did It Again.
What to do, what to do…. Amidst writing a 12-page paper, this takes precedence. Priorities, I know.
Who just scored tickets to Britney Spears and Nicki Minaj: Femme Fatale Tour on July 1st at Rogers Arena!!? Oh, right. ME! Killed my credit card again and opted for lower bowl > floor. I know floor is great and all but I’m a shorty and I won’t be able to see anything. Now… two important questions to ask. 1) Which costume should I construct and wear for the concert? and 2) Which good friend of mine should I take with me? Choices, choices… As for costumes, I’m thinking:
Classic I’m a Slave For You Britney. Typical, but the easiest to make. Yes?
So on Wednesday dressed in my best Nicki Minajesque gear, I went to see Lil Wayne and Nicki Minaj at Rogers Arena. All I gotta say is that 1) I LOVE NICKI MINAJ. 2) I have never seen so much Surrey trash congregated all at once.3) I saw a whole lot of White girl titties that night. Pictorials?
Yeah. And then my camera died. Mother F. I kind of wanted to cry.
Other than that, great concert. Can’t wait til she comes back on July 1st with Britney Spears! Must buy tickets for that. Hellz to the yes.
